We made these Father’s day gifts with the 8-10 year old Activity days girls. I saved a jar for my kids to make for their dad as well as one for their grandpa.
I got the jars from the dollar store and cut out the the Dad’s Stache in black vinyl. In order to make it easier for the kids to match up the vinyl on the jars, I put a rectangle around the Dad’s Stache phrase that was the exact size of the rectangle on the front of the glass jar. I first cut the vinyl phrase out with my Silhouette with a blade depth of 2. The box around the phrase I cut with a blade depth of 7 and did a double cut. The kids weeded out the vinyl and cut the transfer paper to the exact size of the rectangle. The kids just had to match up the transfer paper rectangle inside of the glass jar rectangle. We filled the jars with gummy bears.
I had seen this cute bag on Paper Crave that looked like a men’s shirt with a tie. It was just the thing to put our Dad’s Stache candy jars into.
We used brown paper lunch bags and folded the tops over about 2 inches. We measured the top of the bag and made a mark in the center with a pencil. We cut from each corner diagonally to the mark being careful to only cut the flap and not the bag itself. The kids picked out the patterned cardstock that they wanted and cut them into 6×6 squares. We folded the paper squares into origami neck ties for our Father’s day gift bags. We used this method to fold them.
Dad can take his treat jar to work or leave it at home. Regardless of where it is, he has his own designated treat stash which will probably be gone in one sitting. Easy enough for older kids to make and something that Dad will actually want to keep ;). Happy Father’s Day Dad, you treat lover you!
